About Me.

I began my journey with journalism in high school when my english teacher asked me to join the school's newsmagazine. I then went on to get a bachelor's degree in Digital Media and Journalism with two minors in English: Literature and Language and American Sign Language Studies from Western Michigan University. While working toward my degree, I worked for WMU's student newspaper, Western Herald, as staff reporter, lead news reporter and news editor; dabbled in multimedia journalism through classes and WMU's student radio station 89.1 WIDR; and worked as a news intern at Kalamazoo's NPR affiliate, 102.1 WMUK. Since graduating, I took some time away from writing, got married, and started a new chapter as a 911 dispatcher in Metro Detroit.

I am looking for an opportunity to continue furthering my experience in the journalism field, work with local outlets on a freelance basis and gain experience in a wider variety of writing styles and types.

(Here is a video story I did shortly before graduating talking about my time at WMU and Western Herald.)

Western Michigan University

I earned my bachelor's degree in Digital Media and Journalism with two minors in English: Literature and Language and American Sign Language Studies. While at WMU, I focused on getting involved in the student newspaper, Western Herald, and worked as a news intern at 102.1 WMUK.

I also dabbled in multimedia work and freelance opportunities with local outlets.

2022-2023

Oakland Community College and Macomb Community College

While I received my bachelor's degree at Western Michigan University, I spent my summers working full time at a summer I job I had since I was 16 and taking summer classes to fulfill general education and minor class requirements. These summer classes allowed me to graduate college a year early, earning my bachelor's degree in three years.
